Study Programs for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Students
Various study programs are offered for students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Programs vary by course content studied, length of study period, and number of program hours studied each week. Students who successfully complete any of these programs will receive a certificate. Below is a description of the programs offered:
Putonghua Programs (Preliminary and Advanced Levels) |
The aim is to enable participants to improve their pronunciation, intonation, and spoken communication abilities using standard Putonghua. Some or all of the following courses will be arranged for participants according to the intended length of study, learning goals and level of Chinese language ability:
- Phonetics
- Listening Comprehension
- Conversation
- Intensive Reading
- Grammar
Chinese Language Proficiency and Placement Test for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Students
Students will be placed according to the Chinese language proficiency level they indicate on the application form. During the first day of class, students will be tested in three areas: grammar, comprehension, and fluency. Based on the test results, each student will be place d in a class best suited to his/her current comprehension and fluency level. The class will be both comfortable and challenging.

PSC Test Preparation Training Program |
The aim is to help participants prepare for the PSC Test. This is a National standardized test which accesses the Putonghua ability level for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan individuals and is used as a tool by employers to determine the prospective employee's Chinese language proficiency level. The following areas will be covered during the course of the program:
- Phonetic Principles and Drilling in Standard Spoken Chinese
- Reading Comprehension
- Advanced Conversation
- Preparation tips for taking the PSC test

The aim is to enable participants to learn how to teach Putonghua based on methodology so that they become proficient in teaching standard spoken Mandarin. Some or all of the following courses will be arranged according to the participant's intended length of study, learning goals and level of Chinese language ability:
