Homestay is the preferred accommodation
choice for those students wanting a unique opportunity
to get first hand experience into the Chinese culture
and way of life. Daily contact with the host family will
likely enhance your Chinese language skills as well. In
addition to getting your own room, you are also provided
with two meals a day (usually breakfast and dinner).
Host families are carefully selected based on several criterions: comfort and cleanliness of home environment, proximity of home to university, income of family, type of meals provided, and educational background.
Each room is furnished with new and modern furniture, including a bed, desk, chair and closet. A storage area may also be provided for the student to store personal belongings. Electricity, gas, water and two meals are included in the accommodation. Cost of outgoing telephone calls are to be paid by the individual.
Your host family is there to support you in a new environment and will try to make you feel as comfortable as possible. However, do keep in mind that a homestay is neither a hotel nor a boarding house. It is your home away from home, and you are a member of the household. Therefore, always try to respect the rules set by your host family and have consideration for the people you are living with.
