Bicycles

The easiest way to get around PKU campus is to ride a bicycle. Bicycles can be rented or purchased at the bike shops on campus.

For people in Beijing, bicycles are one of the most popular forms of transportation. You can rent bicycles for 20-30RMB per day, or buy a pretty reliable one from 150-500RMB. Parking your bike is easy as there are many places to park bikes all over the city and the charge for this service is less than 1RMB.

Those purchasing bicycles are required to register their bicycles by showing their purchase invoice and passport to the transportation administration department and pay a bicycle tax in order to obtain bicycle licenses. Those buying second-hand bicycles are required to go through a transfer of ownership procedure. These processes may sound cumbersome, but don't worry, a PRC Study staff can assist you.
