There are also many opportunities for natural recreation in Tibet.The Tibetans have successfully combined the unique local sporting activities with the modern forms and such activities as long-distance run, bridge-playing, chess, tug-of-war, basketball, football, crossbow-shooting and mountaineering. These are now among the most popular games in the region.Those who enjoy extreme challenges can try their luck in the Tibetan Marathon.

    Tibet Mountaineering Association has been organizing activities among thousands of professional and amateur mountaineers from several dozens of teams from different countries and regions.

    Marathon Race

    Tibetan Sports Industry Exploitation and Management Center (TSIEMC) organizes regular Marathon Races Internationally.For example, there were 2,090 participants from 12 countries and regions participated in.As a result, Tibet hit a big success.At the second half of this year, TSIEMC held another activity, Mt. Everest Mountaineering Motorcar Race, which was participated by 50 automobile racers from Yuannan, Guangdong, Zhejiang as well as Tibet.

    Trekking Tibet

    For the trekking lovers, Tibet offers plenty of enticing trekking routes.The popular Ganden-Samye trek has the advantages that both the start and finish points are relatively accessible to Lhasa and that it takes only three to four days.Also worth considering are treks to the cave ermitage of Drak Yerpa from Lhasa, and the five-day trek from Tingri to Everest base camp via Rongbuk.It's advised to take a guide for this.
