For the Putonghua and Business Putonghua Programs, you can choose to have private 1-on-1 tailor made classes or join small group classes with an average of 4 to 5 students per class as offered by the PRC-CIE Academy; or join larger classes with generally an average of 20 students per class, as offered by the Beijing Language and Culture University. Both of these two schools use outstanding teaching materials and classes are taught by qualified instructors; but the smaller class settings often enable students to progress faster due to the smaller teacher-student ratio. Smaller Versus Larger Class Sizes The PRC-CIE Academy was established specifically to teach Mandarin Chinese to foreigners within an accelerated learning environment, as well as to meet students demand for high quality teaching in smaller class settings while offering flexible start dates. The Academy employs teachers from our top partnering universities while using an outstanding curriculum that helps students learn Chinese quickly, effectively and efficiently. The smaller classes averaging 4 to 5 students (with a maximum of 8) per class is the preferred choice by most students, as it offers a much more intensive and faster paced learning environment than the university classes which generally have up to 20 students per class. The private 1-on-1 classes are excellent for those who desire tailor made lessons that are customized to fit all an individual's needs and preferences. The BLCU programs are generally preferred by students looking for a larger campus atmosphere and a long standing reputation. But please note class sizes are larger, averaging 20 students per class.
The Putonghua language teachers are experienced and professional. They are native Putonghua speakers who hold degrees in disciplines related to the Chinese language, and they are also certified by the Ministry of Chinese Education to teach Mandarin Chinese to non-native speakers. Highly trained and with many years of experience, they are keen to pass their knowledge and help you succeed in mastering Putonghua.
The textbooks and handouts provided in class are carefully selected according to the different learning levels and the program enrolled. The materials will enable students to have fun, and be stimulated and challenged at the same time.
After successful completion of the course the student will be awarded a certificate issued by the university or institution he/she attended. University credits may be received provided the student has met all the requirements by their hometown university.
